Fast rhythm, catchy rap, and energetic drops… Got HYPEd up? No doubt!
Scottish DJ and record producer Calvin Harris and English rapper and singer-songwriter Dizzee Rascal fired off their collaborative banger “Hype” on 24 June, 2016. It’s not the first time they work together. The duo recorded “Dance Wiv Me” in 2008 and “Here 2 China” in 2012, on Harris’s album 18 Months.
“Hype” is expected to feature on Dizzee’s forthcoming album. This tune is the perfect hybrid of the two artists’ abilities. Harris employs addictive beat and high pitched synth melody over a deep house groove right from the start of the track. Dizzee fuses in infectious vocals and funny lyrics creating light mood: “Every time I'm around there's a hype / Touchdown and the crowd get's hyped / Straight gassed, got the whole place hype / I'm a bad boy and I do what I like”.
Needless to say, “Hype” is a fab electronic/dance anthem which makes for an enjoyable listen.
